SwimRun, a sport that alternates between running and swimming, presents significant challenges to the body. Many more athletes are taking on this challenge, participating in SwimRun Rheinsberg. Here’s what you need to know.

Rheinsberg is a real gem. Its picturesque location and the castle on Lake Grienericksee are a hotspot for Sunday excursionists, a picture book for lovers. And yesterday, Sunday, showed once again that Rheinsberg is also one of the absolute favourite places of every SwimRunner.

One fine day in 2002, four friends were sitting together on the island of Utö, part of the Stockholm archipelago. This comprises around 30,000 islands. They were drinking, eating and philosophising about life. Various topics were discussed.

In order to complete a SwimRun successfully and, above all, healthily, you should have well-functioning equipment. In addition to the essential running shoes and trousers, many other accessories are permitted. We explain what participants should not do without.

SwimRunners are likeable all-round athletes who practise the sport of SwimRun. The first official SwimRun event took place in Sweden in 2006 - also known as Ö till Ö (island to island). Since 2016, there has been a top-class SwimRun event near Berlin: the SwimRun Rheinsberg.

"Fish swim, birds fly, man runs!" That's how Emil Zatopek saw it. But swimming and flying are not exclusive to animals. The combination of running and “flying” (i.e., gliding), through cool water gives endurance athletes that special kick.
