Sustainability at the SwimRun Rheinsberg

For us at SCC EVENTS, it is important to make our running events sustainable.

Therefore we have identified three dimensions of sustainability which we want to continuously improve:

  • Social justice
  • Environmental protection
  • Economic development

Our contribution for sustainability

What you can do for more sustainalbility

What we already do

Green Mobility

We have organised the start times of the SwimRun so that it is also possible to travel by train. (exception: Family Fun SwimRun).

If you are travelling by car, you can contribute to a more sustainable event by carpooling.

Refreshment points

Reducing waste is one of our top priorities. That's why we don't hand out cups at the refreshment points or in the start and finish areas.

Instead, we encourage our participants to use their own cup or hydration system. Alternatively, participants can purchase a so-called SoftCup in the registration portal, which is a lightweight, portable cup that can also be used at other events.

We move Berlin and the world

Especially in these days of waning physical inactivity and more and more people facing physical and mental issues, we are creating awareness for sport and health, more physical and mental fitness and thus more enthusiasm and joy in life for participants of all ages and abilities.

It is particularly important to us to introduce children and young people to sport and exercise. Therefore, we have created the Family Fun SwimRun and the Youth SwimRun as offers specifically for 11 to 15-year-olds.

Local value creation

At SwimRun Rheinsberg, we prioritize regional service providers and producers whenever possible. For several years now, we have been offering fully regional race refreshments in the form of strawberries and potatoes.

In addition, the event attracts many participants and spectators each year to the state-recognized resort in the Ruppiner Seenland. Together with our local partner, the Seehotel Rheinsberg, we thereby strengthen regional economic value and raise awareness of the vacation destination beyond the event itself. The barrier-free Seehotel is part of the Fürst Donnersmarck Foundation, which stands for inclusion and the removal of social barriers.

Saving resources

We design all sponsor banners, beach flags and buoys at SwimRun Rheinsberg so that we can reuse them.

Only when banners show signs of wear after a few years do we have new ones made.

Sustainability is teamwork! Here's what you can do:

Travel climate-friendly

For a climate-friendly journey to and from the event, use the train. If you are travelling by car, you can contribute to a more sustainable event by carpooling.

Use your own hydration system

To avoid waste, it is best to bring your own cup or hydration system to the event. Ideally, you should use your cup or hydration system for as long as possible.

Leave no trace

Please make sure not to leave any waste along the course, in the forests, or in the lakes, and dispose of any packaging at the next aid station or at the finish.

Follow the course

Please stay on the marked course to protect sensitive natural areas. Use only the designated entry and exit points when entering and leaving the water.
